TTS Coach Education
I hope everyone has settled back into some kind of TT routine. I just wanted to provide some updates in terms of coach education at Table Tennis Scotland.
Coach License
It is important to get your coach license up to date for the 21-22 season. More information on how to do this can be found here – https://tabletennisscotland.co.uk/coach-licence-scheme
TTS Snapcards
11 TTS snapcards are available for FREE download, I have designed 16 in total, waiting for them to be finalised and uploaded to website, hopefully a useful resource for coaches and players- keep an eye out for more – https://tabletennisscotland.co.uk/snap-cards
National Training Camps
We have delivered 3 National Camps for our Commonwealth Games Longlist and Pathway Squads over the summer, with 2 more organised before Christmas. If any coaches are interested in observing what we do, and attending one of our camps at the fabulous Inverclyde National Centre, for CPD purposes, then just get in touch (must have a TTS coach license).
Coaching Courses
We have our first course, out of the pandemic, starting in a couple of weeks. The level 1 course will take place in Aberdeen and we are looking forward to bringing more coaches into our set up. Edinburgh is likely to host another level 1 course in December also. If areas feel they have enough coaches interested, in either a level 1 or level 2, then feel free to get in touch (minimum of 8 people required) – more here https://tabletennisscotland.co.uk/coaching
Tutors/Assesors
As things stand, only myself and Senga Thomson are able to deliver coaching courses for TTS but we are very keen to upskill more in the future. This update went on the website a while ago (https://sportscotland.org.uk/training/sport-educator-training) and there might be more possiblities to get people trained up to tutor and assess in the future. If interested then just get in touch.
CPD
I recently started reading a book called The Coach’s Guide To Teaching and I highly recommend it for all coaches. The book links to short videos clips on this website which I have found a useful CPD resource for myself – https://www.coachsguidetoteaching.com
Online CPD Workshops
I am reviewing whether to continue with the CPD online workshops I was predminately delivering through lockdown. I am open to feedback and demand for this type of CPD. If you think this would be worthshile, then feel free to get in touch. The plan for them would be informal discussions, about everything coaching, directly related to the challenges we face in our local community clubs.
Please note this TTS Director of Coach Education is a voluntary role which I conduct around my other work commitments. I apologise if there are any delays in getting back to the coaches but rest assured I will some point 🙂
