Scottish National Championship 2025 – Roundup

The 2025 Scottish National Championship was held at the fantastic Inverclyde venue, providing the perfect setting for a weekend of top-level Scottish table tennis. In the Men’s Singles,Gavin Rumgay continued his dominance, securing his 18th national title. On the women’s side, Faye Leggett retained her title, making it an impressive four in a row in the Women’s Singles.

The doubles events saw exciting battles, with new and familiar faces taking the podium. Faye Leggett & Holly McNamara teamed up to win their first Women’s Doubles National Championship. In the Men’s Doubles, Martin Johnson & Danny Bajwa avenged last year’s loss, overcoming Colin Dalgleish & Calum Morrison to claim their third senior title together. Meanwhile, Danny Bajwa & Paula Callaghan triumphed in the Mixed Doubles, securing their second national title as a pair.

In the Junior events, Gavin Yuan proved unstoppable, claiming his second Junior Boys’ title without dropping a single set. The Junior Girls’ final was an all-Aberdeen clash between Maja Wojcicka and Kiishi Adekola, with Maja Wojcicka winning a thrilling five-set battle (12-10 in the fifth) to retain her title.

The Cadet Boys’ category saw Joe Mulhern continue his dominance, winning without dropping a set and securing his fourth consecutive national title—a feat last achieved by Stewart Crawford (1988–1991) in this category. In the Cadet Girls’ category, Kiishi Adekola won her first national title in this category.

In the Minors category, young talents made their mark. James Huang, the current Scottish Primary Schools Champion, won his first National Minor Boys’ title at just 10 years old. On the girls’ side, Alexandra Hart took home her first Minors Girls’ title.

The Junior Doubles events also saw some fantastic performances. Daniel Tibbetts & Harry Blackhall successfully defended their Junior Boys’ Doubles title, while Megan Mulhern & Alexandra Hart claimed their first Junior Girls’ Doubles title together.
