Lindsay Muir awarded Honorary Life Membership
Lindsay Muir has received Honorary Life Membership of Table Tennis Scotland. He was presented with it at Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth during the opening fixtures of the 2019-20 Scottish National League season.
TTS Chief Operating Office Richard Yule praised Lindsay’s significant contribution to table tennis over almost 4 decades in a variety of in his coaching and administrative roles, describing him as ‘one of Scottish table tennis’ leading volunteers’, Yule talked about Muir’s leading positions in Murrayfield TTC and the Edinburgh & Lothians Table Tennis League as well as the SNL.
Muir received the award for his immense contribution to the SNL since it was re-established in 2010. The tournament has grown steadily since then with a new 6th division introduced this season.
The photo (by Gordon Muir) shows Lindsay being presented with the award by Stewart McGowan, Honorary President of TTS. At the TTS AGM in July McGowan talked of the ‘tremendous success’ that the new SNL has become and eulogised about the way it has ‘grown and grown and grown’ since its early days (when Phil McCallum and Angie Fowler got things started along with Lindsay).
