COVID-19 UPDATE – 10th July

COVID-19 Update – Latest Government Advice

Table Tennis Scotland welcomes the Scottish Government update of 9th July on the move to Phase Three of the route map out of lockdown, however, we do wish to reiterate what this means for table tennis clubs, facilities and players across the country.

Whilst TTS appreciates this continues to be a frustrating time for clubs, facilities and players across Scotland, the updated guidance has confirmed that indoor gyms and sports facilities (which includes any table tennis club/facility) will not be able to re-open before Friday 31 July, 2020. An update will be provided on 30th July. Please note however, dates for their re-opening (with physical distancing & enhanced hygiene measures) remains unconfirmed.

This means, unfortunately, that all table tennis clubs and facilities should remain closed until further notice.

Preparing for a return to play when safe to do so

As advised previously, Table Tennis Scotland is continuing to develop resources which will include items such as: step-by-step guidance for reopening, safety posters & a pro forma risk assessment template for clubs and members. These resources will become available before the end of July or as soon as the Scottish Government, Public Health Scotland and sportscotland allow publication.

The Scottish Government message remains clear that public health and wellbeing remains the most pressing priority and that we all have a responsibility to do what we can to continue to suppress the spread of the virus. Please support the FACTS messaging as attached and please take time to read the latest version of the Scottish Government`s Route Map out of Lockdown.

Further updates will be published as soon as any changes are announced by government.

Until then, on behalf of everyone at Table Tennis Scotland stay healthy and keep safe.
