Coaching

Coaching opportunities are available for those just starting to coach, right up to Head coaches of table tennis clubs.

There are 4 levels available for players wanting to achieve United Kingdom Coaching Certificates (UKCC).

TTE run a technical weekend and have UKCC coaches allocated as mentors for the candidates. This is awaiting UKCC validation for July 2017.

INTRODUCTION TO UKCC AWARD

This is a 3 hour course aimed at those who aim to help teachers/coaches in a school/club situation. Course involves basic strokes/fun games/ rules/instructing practices. Assessment is a simple practice for 2 players and basic rules paper.

TEACHERS AWARD

This is 1 hour CPD modules aimed at teachers/activity coordinators wanting to run table tennis classes. If the teachers sit the 3 CPDs which cover Basic skills/rules & tournaments/fun games, they will be awarded the Introduction Award.

NAME OF ATTENDEES

UKCC LEVEL 1

This is a 2 day course aimed at club players wanting to coach beginner groups.
Course involves all basic skills/fun games/coaching process/fitness sessions.
Assessment involves completing a workbook on safety aspects and lesson plans and a 20 minute practical session for 4 beginners.

UKCC LEVEL 2

This is a 3 day course aimed at coaches wanting to become club coaches working with intermediate players. Course involves intermediate/ advanced skills and various practices/video analysis/coaching intermediate groups and one to one sessions.

Assessment involves completing workbook on player profiling/progressive lesson plans/nutrition. A club 40 minute coaching session with 4 intermediate players. One to one coaching with video analysis.

UKCC LEVEL 3

This involves 2 weekends and 9 month logbook aimed at a coach operating as a Head Coach. Course is run by Table Tennis England (Details on TTE website) and involves recording your coaching process with a targeted group over 9 months. This is tutored by Gloucstershire University staff and additional relevant modules are offered.
