Table Tennis Scotland support UKAD’s Clean Sport Week

It is our priority at Table Tennis Scotland to make sure our sport is fair and clean for everyone. To achieve this, we work with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) on education, prevention, and detection of doping in our sport. This week was UKAD’s clean sports week and in light of this we wanted to share what is being done and what you can do to help our sport stay clean.

UKAD’S clean sports week is their national awareness week championing clean sports, education, and anti-doping initiatives with sports across the UK. To find out more about Anti-Doping or UKAD’s clean sport week initiative visit their website here.

We view keeping our sports clean as a team effort. Athletes are pivotal as they are responsible for making sure they compete clean as its their own body. However, coaches, parents, volunteers, staff and everyone involved with Table Tennis Scotland (TTS) are part of this team and play a vital role in supporting athletes.

In support of UKAD’s clean sports week, we challenge everyone to look further into this and work with their athletes to fulfill their anti-doping responsibilities. We at TTS have created an assurance framework which National Governing Bodies must have to show they are meeting these standards. As part of this we work with Table Tennis England to create a Education Strategy to support athletes throughout their careers. A main point in this is to increasingly train our staff so that we can better inform and help our future athletes.

We encourage anyone in our sporting community that would like to learn more to sign up at UKAD’s Clean Sports Hub where you can find free educational courses and lots of very useful information.

You can also follow @ukantidoping on social media to catch up with all the content for this week. If you have any questions this can be sent to our Anti-Doping Lead Callum Riddoch at callum.riddoch@tabletennisscotland.co.uk
