Parkinson’s workshop
As the entries are now closed for the second Parkinson’s International event at Inverclyde on the weekend of the 9th – 11th August, we can announce that Parkinson’s UK Scotland are running a 2-hour practical training session on Friday 9th August at 5.30pm at Inverclyde, in tandem with the championships.
The workshop is aimed at coaches, volunteers and club administrators already running sessions and those looking to start a Parkinson’s session as part of their club programme or as a stand-alone session.
It is open to coaches and other people that work in table tennis to give practical advice and training to support clubs.
Table Tennis Scotland has a strong partnership with Parkinson’s UK Scotland and more clubs are now offering sessions for people with Parkinson’s either as an integrated session or a specific Parkinson’s only session.
If you are interested and would like to attend, please email Stuart Wallis on stuart.wallis@tabletennisscotland.co.uk to be included.
There is other training available online via the Parkinson’s website and has a certificate of attendance at the end of it.
This certificate can be uploaded as part of your CPD evidence when you renew your coach licence.
There are small start up grants available to clubs offering Parkinson’s sessions to support the work being done. Eligibility is first of all someone at the club having the certificate.
