Division 1 – Poles Apart
The curtain came down on another exciting SNL season on Sunday, highlighted by international‑level table tennis in Division 1. After two years of coming agonisingly close, J&K Carnbo finally claimed the title, overcoming defending champions North Ayrshire. North Ayrshire needed only a draw in the final match to secure what would have been their twelfth consecutive championship, but a dominant 6–0 performance from the two strong Polish Super League players Jan Zandecki and Jakub Perek and the ever‑reliable Colin Dalgleish — unbeaten across the entire season — sealed the victory for Carnbo.
Division 2-6 Highlights
Division 2 – Aberdeen’s talented young squad were convincing winners, with hosts Dundee finishing a close second. Both teams earn promotion to Division 1 next season.
Division 3 – Genesis OHS Dumfries B took top honors, edging out Aberdeen by just a single point in one of the tightest finishes of the day.
Division 4 – Joe Wilson A secured the title, while Penicuik claimed the second promotion spot thanks to a superior games difference over Knightswood across the seven matches.
Division 5 – Another nail‑biter: Inverness and Stirling B finished level on points, with the northerners taking the division on match average.
Division 6 – Only one point separated the youthful Aberdeen side from the more seasoned South Ayrshire team. Both will move up the ladder next season.
It was fantastic to have all divisions competing under one roof at the Dundee International Sports Centre, with clubs traveling from Inverness to Dumfries. Big thanks to Richard Yule for his work on securing the venue this season.
A huge thank you goes to the DISC staff, referee Catherine O’Neil, and Stuart and Alison at the top table. Appreciation also to Gordon Muir for capturing the action through his photography and updating the results on Ratings Central.
The waiting list for next season is now open, with all fixtures once again scheduled to take place at the DISC.
