COVID-19 UPDATE – 26th June

Dear Members, Colleagues and Friends,

You will all be aware that the First Minister has now outlined dates for the further easing of lockdown restrictions as part of the route map process. Several of these measures will have a direct impact on sport and physical activity and while this is obviously welcome news it will no doubt lead to more questions.

Please note that in line with previous updates indoor activities are not set to resume until Phase 3 and unlikely before 23 July.

This latest easing of restrictions is however encouraging and Table Tennis Scotland welcomes the clear commitment of the Scottish Government to re-start community and performance sport when it is safe to do so.

sportscotland and Public Health Scotland would like all governing bodies to relay the following key messages:

  • Public health and wellbeing remains the most pressing priority.
  • We all have a responsibility to do what we can to continue to supress the spread of the virus.
  • Emphasise we are still in Phase Two and urge the table tennis community to continue to adhere to the current public health and sport guidance.

It is very encouraging that these latest announcements have put dates against more of the details contained in phase 2 and phase 3 of the Governments Route Map and TTS will continue to work with Scottish Government and sportscotland to clarify specific points and feed these back to you in regular updates in the coming weeks. For now, once again, please take some time to read the Scottish Government`s latest update.

Stay healthy and keep safe.
Table Tennis Scotland
