Ranking List – 2nd August 2026

The Selection and Ranking Committee, on behalf of Table Tennis Scotland, has introduced a new player ranking system.

This system is based on Ratings Central, providing a transparent and data-driven method to evaluate player performance and produce national rankings.

Player ratings are calculated using Ratings Central, which updates ratings based on match results and opponent strength.

Rankings are determined directly from these ratings, with players ordered from highest to lowest rating, subject to eligibility criteria outlined below.

Where two players have equal ratings, the player with the lower rating deviation (RD)—indicating a more reliable rating—will be ranked higher.

Ranking lists are published after each designated national event.

While local results may be submitted between publication points, official rankings are recalculated only after national events. This ensures that national competitions are prioritised in the ranking system.

To be included in the Rating and Ranking Lists, players must:

  • Be an affiliated member of Table Tennis Scotland
  • Have a valid Ratings Central rating
  • Have competed in at least one eligible event within the past 12 months

Additional criteria apply for inclusion in the Ranking List (Eligibility criteria is currently being revised, more information coming soon).

Full List
Includes all affiliated players with a valid Ratings Central rating.

Rating List
Includes players from the Full List who have competed in at least one eligible event within the past 12 months.

Ranking List
A subset of the Rating List including only players who are eligible to represent Scotland.

Players with a Ratings Central rating deviation (RD) greater than 150 will not be assigned a ranking position.

A high RD indicates insufficient recent match data, making the rating less reliable. Players can reduce their RD by participating in more eligible events.

Players are included in the Rating and Ranking Lists if they have competed in at least one of the following eligible events within the past 12 months:
