Eric Lundberg

It is with great sadness that we bring you the news of the death of Eric Lundberg.

Dad passed away at home on the 11th February, he had been battling illness for some time however was tackling with his usual wit and humour which so many have pointed out to me since his passing. It was a great pride to him his achievements in table tennis mainly as coach, organiser, committee member or just a local league player. As a family we have been touched by the amount of messages from the table tennis community over the last few days and if possible invite you to watch the stream of the service at 10.30 tomorrow from Perth crematorium.

Details of the service below.

Mark, I have known Eric since you were a bairn turning up to tournaments. He was the perfect TT parent, supportive and involved but never dogmatic or interfering.

We shared quite a bit of time on STTA (as it was then) committees, where I always enjoyed Eric’s company. He had an easy manner and a great sense of fun. One of his great qualities was his ability to stay objective and reach fair conclusions whatever the circumstances, even when his decisions could affect his own son. As you know, that is a rare and honourable quality in a TT parent.

A lot of TT players’ lives have been enriched by his practical help and, more importantly, his his example of how to lead a good and kind life. My deepest condolences.

Finally, I know from Dave Fairholm that you have done all you could to repay your Dad, by being a devoted son who has honoured his father in every way you could. You should take great comfort from that.
